Taste Odyssey turns whisky tasting into a fully interactive online experience. Originally concepted by an external creative team, we were brought in as the development partner to make it real – building the whole experience in just two months.
The platform invites users to explore the look, nose and taste of different whiskies, compare their impressions with others, and watch as their responses come to life through motion and data. It’s whisky tasting, reimagined for the digital age.
The solution
We built the app with Vue, chosen for its flexibility and performance. For the visuals, we combined ParticleLove (WebGL) and Three.js to create real-time animations that respond to every choice a user makes.
As participants move through the tasting, their selections shape a “flavour signature” — a living particle animation that represents their personal whisky profile. That image can then be saved or shared as a wallpaper, extending the experience beyond the session itself.
Everything runs through WordPress, so new whiskies, brands or languages can be added without touching code.
To keep it smooth across all devices, we used adaptive rendering and smart frame management – so even on mobile, the animations feel fluid and alive.
The result
Taste Odyssey launched on time, within budget, and instantly stood out. It’s now being expanded across more brands within the Pernod Ricard portfolio.
